Janis's obituary

Janis Dean Janzen, 70, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 surrounded by her closest friends and family following a short but courageous fight with breast cancer. Janis was born to John Dean and Mary Dean (nee Duncan) in March of 1949 in Henrietta, Texas but spent most of her childhood in Hereford, Texas and graduated from Hereford High School in 1967. She attended Wayland Baptist University and received a bachelor's degree in business administration. She worked for SRH Consulting in Grapevine, Texas for the past 19 years, where she was a loyal employee and office manager.

Janis found joy in many activities over the years, such as cross-stitching and enjoying the cuisine at local restaurants. She enjoyed shopping with her two daughters and watching her favorite television shows, like Jeopardy and Judge Judy. She loved attending musicals and concerts at the Granbury Opera House with her family and friends. In her earlier years, she was a dedicated member of her church choir and loved singing on Sunday mornings. She enjoyed music and was a talented piano player. Janis had a heart of gold; she was a supportive and loving friend to many. She was kind and thoughtful to all, often surprising her friends and family members with small tokens of appreciation and always lending a listening ear. Her infectious laugh and friendly smile filled a room with happiness. Most importantly, she was an amazing mother to her two daughters. She taught them to love unconditionally and always be kind and generous to others. Her daughters miss her dearly and will forever love her and be grateful for the amazing memories they created together.

Janis is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her two daughters, Kellie Janzen of McKinney, Texas and Kinsey Janzen, of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by numerous cousins and loving friends.

Janis' Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 2pm at the Founders Chapel at First United Methodist Church of Grapevine (422 S Church St, Grapevine TX 76051) with a reception to follow at her favorite restaurant, Farina’s Winery and Cafe. Attendees are encouraged to wear blue, Janis' favorite color. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (https://give.bcrf.org)
