Janine C Heckman (Steele), 69, of Crownsville MD, passed away on March 31, 2019. She was born on November 27, 1949, in Washington DC, to the late Clifford and Olivia Steele (DeSantis).

Janine grew up in Arlington , VA, and attended Yorktown High School. She later became a paralegal in Washington DC, where she worked for many years. Janine also co-founded the business brokerage firm, Corporate Investment, with her husband Arnold Heckman.

In addition to her professional career, Janine was also an artist, avid gardener, and enjoyed eating steamed crabs, sailing, wine, and playing percussion instruments. She always brought her timeless style and class to any event and was known as the life of the party.

Janine is survived by her loving husband, Arnold Heckman of 39 years. Her daughter Lauren McCauley (Heckman), Lauren's husband Travis McCauley, and her beloved grandchildren Liam Novak and Odin McCauley. She is also survived by her sister Candyce Steele Cooke and her best friends Joanne and Nick Linebaugh.

Janine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of sending flowers, please plant one in your garden no matter how big or small, or donate the to Childrens National Hospital in Janine's memory.
