Janie's obituary

Our family unexpectedly lost our family's matriarch, Janie, on January 06, 2023. She was just 74 years old. Janie spent her entire life in her beloved hometown of TOWN, a community she was happy to call home. Janie was an only child and though she was relentlessly spoiled, she grew up with a desire to build community and help anyone who was less fortunate. When she passed, she had four children (Margette Yarbrough, James Miller Jr, Micheal Yarbrough Lisa Miller), ten grandchildren (Marcus Yarbrough, James Miller 2nd, Amanda Yarbrough, Lisa Yarbrough, Dondre Miller, Anita Yarbrough, Marquis Miller, Jamal Yarbrough, Kelly Yarbrough, Mike Yarbrough ), and many more friends, extended family members, and loving coworkers.

Her true passion in life was teaching -- something she spent over 25 year of her life dedicated to. She began her career as a Chemistry teacher and ended her career as a teaching instructor -- passing her lifelong knowledge on to as many people as she could. Even after she retired, Janie spent her time volunteering at libraries to help teach English to those who had recently immigrated to the country, something that gave her great joy.

Our family requests donations be made to D. Jones Library, a community organization that meant a lot to Janie.
