Janie's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the departure of Janie M. Boyd, who passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024. Born on February 13, 1930, Janie lived a remarkable 94 years, touching the hearts of those around her, with her captivating spirit and boundless energy.
Janie epitomized courage, grace and thoughtfulness, leaving a rich tapestry of memories woven through the lives that she interacted with. Her life was characterized by her genuine love for others and her firm belief in human kindness. Even in the face of adversity, Janie demonstrated immense resilience, inspiring others to do the same.
She had an infectious smile that could instantly illuminate a room and a sense of humor that could lift your spirits even on the darkest of days. She was a pillar of strength for her family, a dedicated parent devoted friend, and a beacon of hope and love in her community.
Janie's vibrant personality and her zest for life continues to live on through the many narratives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be greatly missed.
While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life, remembering her tireless dedication to community service and the joy she brought into our lives. We take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, resilience, and positivity will forever remain an integral part of who we are.
Being an advocate for her community has been her life’s work. Janie served as an Advisory neighborhood commissioner. She is the former President of the DC Consumer Association. Janie served as the DC coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network. She was a volunteer for the Love of Children (providing foster care services for children). She has led annual turkey drives that have provided food for hundreds of DC families. She was an active member of her church and enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army.
We will truly miss this phenomenal woman!!!!
