Janice's obituary
On Monday, November 21, 2022, Janice Adonna Weyna, loving mother of three, passed away at age seventy. She was born in Denver, Colorado on May 17, 1952, to father John A Weyna and mother Emma Jean Scruggs Weyna. Janice Weyna graduated in Dearborn, Missouri from North Platte High School in 1971. An avid lover of art deco and art in general, Janice moved to Tulsa in 1981 for its robust amount of art deco and the city’s overall love of the arts. She was retired from American Airlines after over 35 years of service with many achievements and honors.
Janice also had a love of football; college and NFL. She proudly donned her collection of OU and Denver Broncos clothing on any given day. Broncos and OU Sooners knickknacks were displayed throughout her home with pride. Game days were always exciting to sit with her and watch the game. She shared this love of sports with her children as well. She volunteered as her daughter’s softball coach and her son’s football coach when they were children.
Janice was best known for her quick-witted humor, fierce determination, and generous spirit. Everywhere she went, Janice made a friend. Her joy and laughter will be missed by many.
Janice was predeceased by her fafter, John Weyna, mother, Emma Jean Strankman, step-father, Lewis Strankman, and brother, John Weyna. She is survived by her three children, Jami, Matthew, and Gregory, and four grandchildren. In addition , her step-mother Mary Lou Weyna, and two sisters and their husbands to whom she was very close to, JoAnn and Dennis Hoppins and Juli and Fred Dougherty. Her family meant the world to her. Especially her fur baby, Daisy Mae.
An informal memorial gathering as a “come and go” format will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 2:30-5:00 p.m. Email jami@myati.org for address information. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead donate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
