Janice's obituary
Janice Rose “Janny” Spencer (née Blanchard), age 81, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Lake Orion, Michigan. Born on March 12, 1944, in Flint, Michigan, Janice brought warmth and laughter into the lives of those around her for over eight decades.
Janice’s greatest pride was her family. She was the daughter of Lillian Alexander and Ernest Blanchard and was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, Robert Alexander. Janice grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings Donna Holland, Ernest Blanchard, and Robert Alexander, all of whom preceded her in death. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lisa Irish (Brian Irish); son, Daniel Irwin (Bill Kupski); brother, David Blanchard (Judy Blanchard); and granddaughters Catherine Irwin and Grace Irwin. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Janice found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections throughout her life. She greatly enjoyed waitressing, a career she enthusiastically and proudly embraced. Her work allowed her to meet people from all walks of life, and she cherished the camaraderie and stories shared across tables.
Known for her wonderfully wicked sense of humor, Janice had an infectious laugh that could light up any room. Though she often joked that she couldn’t tell a joke to save her life, she delighted in laughter and brought joy to those fortunate enough to know her. Her love for reading kept her mind sharp and curious; bingo nights were a favorite pastime, and casino trips added excitement to her days.
A devoted cat lover, Janice always had room in her heart for feline companions.
Her beloved husband, Joseph Spencer, preceded her in death, whose memory remained close to her heart throughout the years.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on June 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Holly, 15030 N. Holly Rd., with a luncheon immediately following the service.
May the memory of Janice Rose Spencer bring comfort to those who knew and loved
