Janice's obituary
Janice Beth Seaman, 80, of Fairfield, PA, passed away peacefully at home on November 16th, surrounded by her loved ones, following a seven-year journey with cancer. Janice was born on September 24, 1944, in Washington, DC, to Mary and Albert Bauer. She was the oldest of three girls.
On March 25, 1966, Janice married her high school sweetheart, Larry Seaman. They settled in Maryland, where they welcomed their daughter, Laura, in 1967, followed by their son, Andy, in 1970.
Janice had a rewarding career as a nurse, working in a variety of settings, including public health, podiatry, private duty nursing, home health, and, eventually, as the night nurse at the Record Street Home in Frederick, where she cared for the women who resided there.
A woman of deep faith, Janice made practicing her faith an integral part of her life. She stayed active in worship and devoted herself to the social, outreach, and community activities offered by the church. While living in Maryland, she was active at University Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and later at Hyattstown Christian Church. After moving to Fairfield, PA, she became a member of Fairfield Mennonite Church. To know Janice was to love her—she cared deeply for everyone she met and formed positive, inspirational relationships with all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.
In 1995, Janice became a grandmother for the first time and was later blessed with three granddaughters and one grandson.
Janice Beth Bauer Seaman is survived by the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Larry Seaman, as well as her children and their spouses: Laura and Bill Hall, and Andy and Jill Seaman. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren: Kayla Hall, Helena Ringer and her husband Hunter, Peyton Seaman, and Parker Seaman. She is also survived by her sister Jeanne Padgett, and her neighbor and dear friend, Christine Koehler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Bauer, and her sister, Carole Shaffer.
Janice chose to donate her body to science. Her memorial service will be held on December 14th at 11 am at Fairfield Mennonite Church, 201 W Main St, Fairfield, PA
