We are sorry to announce the passing of Janice Kathleen Pawelka (nee Preiser). She was born March 27, 1943, and died peacefully in her sleep July 1, 2022, at age 79.

Janice lived most of her life in West Allis, WI with her late husband Joseph (Joe) Pawelka. She worked as a Group Leader at Allen Bradley/Rockwell International where she retired after 35 years of service. Janice is survived by her three sons, Daniel (Dan) Searles and wife Paula of Durham, NC, Duane Searles and wife Lora of Franklin, WI, and Perry Pawelka and wife Laura of Middleton, WI. She also has three grandchildren, Aaron, Laura, and Finley. She is also survived by her brother, Theodore (Ted) Preiser and his wife Alice of Elkhorn, WI, and their eight children, Joe, Mandy, Michelle, Melanie, Jerry, Jim, John, and Monica.

Janice enjoyed spending time with family and pursued a number of hobbies that included genealogy, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and her favorite card game Pounce.

A special thanks to Robin at Franciscan Villa, Linda and St. Croix Hospice staff, and niece Melanie for such great care.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 6, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with service at 7:00 PM, at Schaff Funeral Home, 5920 West Lincoln Avenue, West Allis, WI. Burial will be held Thursday, July 7, at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 West Greenfield Avenue, New Berlin, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org)
