Janice Elizabeth McEwen passed away July 15 , 2021 in JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ.  She was 68.  Janice was born in Rahway, NJ  and lived many years in Brick Town, NJ, and also the Philippine Islands and Scotch Plains, NJ prior to moving to Clark in 1968.       

Janice was a 1971 graduate of Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark. A devout Catholic,  after graduation she began working at St. Mary's Church in Elizabeth, NJ.  Later she worked over 20 years as the Youth Minister for St. Mary's Church, now known as Divine Mercy Parish, in Rahway.  She mentored and ministered to many youths who grew to love her, and whose lives were changed or enriched by Jan.  Many of these young adults became lifelong friends of hers.                

 Janice had  a great love for animals and had a horse, a goat and a lamb.  She was a frequent visitor to the animal shelters in Linden and Newark, and adopted many rescued and abused dogs through the years, providing them with a safe and  loving home.          

On Saturday August 7th there will be a viewing at noon, followed by Mass at 1PM, at Divine Mercy Parish in Rahway.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Clark.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice's name may be made to Friends-Linden Animal Shelter in Linden, NJ or Associated Humane Societies-Newark, Newark,  NJ.
