Janice's obituary
Janice Marie Barnes, 60, of San Clemente, California, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, August 11, 2022, after a valiant fight against cancer. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma on May 27, 1962.
Janice could be extremely fun and had a great laugh and lovely smile. She was both tough minded and adventurous, marching to the beat of her own drum. Her sense of adventure was seen by her varied pursuits including being a waitress, a roofer, driving an 18 wheeler across the United States, becoming a licensed cosmetologist and hair stylist. She was the most passionate, and spent the last 15 + years of her life as a CNA, tending to the elderly as a caregiver.
She liked to crochet, enjoyed cooking, loved animals and living on the coast, near the beach. She had a beautiful voice and received letters from families thanking her for her ministry to their loved ones by often singing to them; calming them and easing their anxieties.
She had crazy hair styles and fad hair cuts throughout her life, including ones with different colors. Her last hair color before she passed was blue.
She was preceded in death by her mother Glenda Postier Barnes. She is survived by her daughter Julianne Caldwell, father Bill Barnes and wife Sue, brother James Barnes, sister Sondra Barnes, brother Joseph Barnes and wife Claudia, sisters Billie Loyd and husband Alyn, Julie Danyew and husband Greg, aunt Linda Postier, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her body was donated to science, per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Cancer Society.
