Jan was a teacher to all who knew her. Although Jan's family is unable to host an in-person memorial service at this time, we wish to honor her legacy along with her many friends and beloved students. Please use this page to share in our celebration of Jan's extraordinary life.

As we mourn the great loss of her passing, we want to share a few words from one of Jan's favorite poets, the great T.S. Eliot:

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, unremembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.

No memorial events are planned

Unfortunately, current circumstances do not allow us to host a physical memorial service. However, we know that Jan's loss is mourned by many, and we want to give a voice to them as they celebrate her life. We hope this page will serve as a small repository of the innumerable wonderful memories we have all shared with Jan. If any memorial events are planned in the future, we will update this page and Jan's Facebook profile with the relevant information. Her eldest son, Chris, manages the profile, and will respond to any friend requests you may send.
