Janice's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Marie Cottrill. Born on February 19, 1952, Janice made her peaceful transition into the afterlife on August 3rd, 2025. Her bright spirit and compassionate heart will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of her company.
Janice leaves behind her beloved family: her husband, Frederick Cottrill, her son Jonah Santiago, her cherished granddaughters Brianna and Skye Myers, and her dear grandson Liam Santiago. Their hearts are filled with sweet memories of her kindness, love, and honesty.
In 2002, Janice moved to Ravenna, OH, where she touched countless lives as an attendee of her church. Her faith was paramount in her life, and her love for her church radiated to those around her.
Hospitality was a quality inherent to Janice. She adored cooking, with slowed cooked pot roast and deviled egg salad, hosting barbecues for her family being her standout recipes and iced tea her signature drink. Her home was a place of warmth and happiness, thanks in large part to her passion for Pink Floyd, her fondness for Grey's Anatomy, and her unwavering support for the Cleveland Browns.
Janice's hobbies were simple yet fulfilling. She was a notable chess player, and a quiet day reading on her porch surrounded by nature was one of her favorite pastimes. She had a passion for walking her eleven dogs (and counting) and ensured she made time each day for this activity. Janice found solace and peace at Huntington Beach State Park, and it remained her favorite vacation spot throughout her life.
Janice was a woman with a great love for family and her animals. Her world revolved around them, and she derived immense joy from caring for them. She raised a loving and close-knit family and opened her heart and home to many lost animals. Her favorite color, baby blue, reflected her gentle spirit and nurturing nature.
Janice Cottrill was a woman of great respect and generosity. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and the impact she made on her loved ones and community will never be forgotten. Her memory will be carried forward with love, honor, and immense gratitude for the wonderful life she lived. Janice will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her and love her.
