I met Janet at Williamstown Theater Festival. I was so green. She became my friend, my teacher and mentor. She was a personal advisor during a very difficult time in my life. Supportive, wise, and so very caring. I learned so much about craft and how to handle myself in life and show biz from Janet. I will be eternally grateful. Rest in Peace dear Janet.

Janet and I met in 1972 at an audition for Spatini spaghetti sauce. Our agent thought we looked a like and put us together.  We immediately connected and yes we looked alike so much so that sometimes I was mistaken for Janet.  Janet was only 11 years older than me and could never be my mother but  we landed the commercial which ran  5 years.  At the audition we immediately connected .Our relationship lasted 51 years. Although we didn't really see each other much the last few years there was always a connection.  On November 18, 2023 I emailed Janet to wish her a happy birthday remembering that it was her 90th birthday.  It was then I discovered she passed away on March 15th from cancer. I gathered from what I read that she went quickly. My only hope is that she didn't suffer.  The body goes but a spirit as vibrant as Janet's lives on in all of our hearts.  I will always love you, Mama.

My Sweet Janet. I know now why I have been unable to reach you. If you only knew how much the Sarno and Camarda Families live on in my heart, and some in my autobiography, but you, especially from our teen years to our dotage. You are surely a star in the heavenly domain.  My sympathies to all your family and friends at the loss of such a loving soul.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of my beloved acting coach, Janet Sarno. Janet was not only a brilliant actress and teacher, she was a kind, compassionate friend who was there when I needed her. She will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

Oh Janet! I feel honored to have known you. What a beloved friend and amazing human being.  Effervescent! I loved working with you and learned so much from you. You were a true artist; generous, open, humble and wise.

I had the distinct pleasure of appearing both on Broadway in Knockout and Off-Broadway in Marlon Brando Sat Right Here with Janet and she was always an oasis in the midst of the madness. Her warmth and smile were there no matter what. We bonded immediately and were friends to the very end. I am sorry for everyone who didn't get to have that experience. 

Janet, you laughed and lived and loved so fiercely. But you always supported us all no matter how big or small or whatever situation we were in. Your laugh and smile stayed with us. You showed  compassion to me and my family and that meant a lot.I cherish all the times I met and sat next to you.  Can’t thank you enough for being a huge part of ARTC and  New York’s heart when I was there with you. Say hi to Mikel for me. Rest well.
