Janet "Marcele" Russell was born July 29, 1947 in Cooter, MO and departed this life on May 12, 2021 in Nashville, TN. She grew up and graduated high school in Wardell, MO. For most of her adult life, she lived and raised her family in Hayti, MO. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. In 2007, she moved to Nashville, TN to be with her family, where she retired from work in 2009. In Nashville, she was a devoted member of her Sunday School class at Una Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mildred (Harris) Bankston, her husband, Henry Russell, and a sister, Emma Joan Bankston. She leaves the following to mourn her passing, and celebrate her life: Two daughters - Karen Russell and Lee Anne Carnell, both of Nashville; a sister - Iva Lynn (Horris) Fly of Gallatin, TN; two brothers - Thomas Bankston of Bettendorf, IA and Herb (Angela) Bankston of Troy, IL; three grandchildren - Holly Carnell, Candice (Ian) Davenport, and Dylan Carnell, and one great-grandson - Riley Carnell, all of Nashville. She was also anticipating the arrival of a great-granddaughter (Ivalynn Lee) in July.

Marcele leaves behind a host of extended family members and beloved friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart for others, and once you were her friend, you were her friend forever. Her greatest loves were God and her family, and she lived for both. During her final years, as she battled cancer, she learned to rely even more on God and her family. She was a wonderful example of a Christian warrior, and she will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Room in the Inn" in Nashville, or your local homeless shelter, in her memory.
