Janet's obituary

Janet Celaine Murray-Puckett, of Illinois and Tennessee, passed away on January 25, 2024 in Athens, TN at the age of 73. Born on May 17, 1950, in Fredericksburg, VA she nurtured a spirit of kindness and honesty throughout her life.

Janet had a benevolent presence and she extended her heart without measure. She loved God and taught Sunday school for teens for many years at People's Freewill Baptist Church in Justice,IL. She truly lived by the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

She was appreciated for who she was and loved by her family and friends. Due to her nurturing personality, she was a mother figure to many and lived a life that is impossible to summarize. Janet will be deeply missed.

Her legacy continues to blossom in the lives of those she leaves behind, her grandson Gregory A. Murray (Emily), and great-grandson Wyatt Murray. She is also mourned by step-children Tasha Puckett-Bellino (Steve Goelz), Donna Remblos, Stella Remblos, and Frank Remblos, as well as several cousins and many nieces and nephews who adored her.

She now reunites with her beloved son Gregory L. Murray, and all her family who have preceded her in death– sister Crystal Bower (Reid), brother Roy Tilson (Diane), brother Larry Murray, sister Barbara "Bunny" Renner (J.D.), sister Martha Gail Hynus (Robert), her most cherished mother Alma J. Gourley Tilson (Ross), nephew Joseph Tilson, former spouse Bobby Ray Puckett, step-son Charlie Puckett, and step-daughter Teri Remblos.

All who have been lucky enough to know her and miss her are invited to gather in a service that will celebrate Janet's life and the light she has instilled in each of us on March 23, 2024, from 12pm to 3pm at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 7240 W 62nd Summit, IL 60501.
