Janet's obituary
Janet was a highly talented artist, cook, and gardener, often found sketching something beautiful, trying out a new recipe, or tending to her herb garden. Janet loved seeing the world/traveling and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She was baptized at Living Word Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was also a confirmed member.
Janet is survived by her loving sons: Garrett A. Merchant (Anna), and Charles A. "Chaz" Merchant III (Casey); step-sons: Charles H. "Charlie" Merchant and Mark C. "Chris" Merchant; siblings: James B. "Dusty" Heifner (Francis), Sandra "Sandy" Smith (Louis), and Diane Via; grandchildren: Emma, Tippi, and Max Merchant; and many more.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Alger Merchant Jr; son: Dustin W. Merchant, and parents: James Heifner and Nancy Heifner.
A viewing and funeral will be held at 11am on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Turnerville Baptist Church. A reception will follow. For inquiries, please contact (251) 404-6922.
Janet's legacy is one of love, beauty, and flavor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
