Jan's obituary
We mourn the loss of my grandma Janet 'Jan' Lucas, who gracefully departed this life on July 20, 2023. Born on September 28, 1952, Jan exuded a vibrant, compassionate personality that touched many lives throughout her 70 years. She was a kind and sweet soul, occasionally sassy, always bossy in a nice way.
Jan was a devoted mother to her children, Jerry Solomon and Joyce Gray. She warmly welcomed her son-in-law, Tony Gill, and her daughter-in-law, Bieanca Solomon, into the family. The lights of her life were her granddaughter, Eva Solomon and the joy she experienced in meeting her in March 16, 2012. She loved playing with Eva and this became her favorite recreational activity.
Jan had a love of life and simple pleasures. A lover of cuisine, her favorite foods ranged from pizza, chips and dip, to a healthy salad. She enjoyed quenching her thirst with a Pepsi or a glass of water. On a quiet evening, you would find her watching 'Wheel of Fortune' or 'Jeopardy', or engaged in a game of ‘Happy Color’ on her phone. A proud supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Jan was always ready to cheer on her team.
Jan cherished her time spent traveling, with Florida and North Carolina ranking high on her list of favored vacation spots. Locally, the Fountain at Easton Town Square was her preferred spot of relaxation and reflection. She had a particular fondness for the color purple, which matched her vibrant and fiery spirit.
Her mantra was "never give up, no matter what gets in your way", a powerful testament to her resilient spirit. Jan leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love. She was a beacon of light and inspiration to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her grandma, we will never forget you. Your influence will forever be etched in our hearts and we are so grateful for the memories we've shared. Your story is a cherished chapter in our family's history, and we will proudly carry forward your legacy of love and resilience.
