Janet Arlene Cox Kegel passed away in February 2022. Born in Chicago in 1937, her family moved to West Seattle when she was young and graduated from West Seattle High in 1955. Afterwards she joined the Marine reserves and the Women’s Marines rifle team and in 1956 was the hi shooter first place winner in the western division. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, and skin diving, and eventually competed in spearfishing in San Diego. She graduated from the UW Nursing school and began her nursing career becoming an emergency room nurse for many years. She loved being a nurse and it showed in the way she cared for and loved her four kids, four grandkids, and others. One time she even brought a person back to life in a restaurant by administering CPR! She enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, played a little soccer, and later took a couple of trips to Europe and China, then traveled in her RV around the states. She was a strong, adventurous, and caring woman, and you could tell how she got that way by what she experienced and accomplished in her life. Jan was very well loved and will be always in our hearts!
