Janet's obituary
Janet Jennings daughter of the late Ethal Greene and Joseph Williams, was born January 20, 1946 in Baltimore Maryland. Janet (Schoonie) embraced eternal peace on January 14, 2024, just shy of her 78th birthday. Janet (Schoonie) except her sudden death. She looked up at me with her bright beautiful eyes as if to say " it is well with my soul."
Janet (Schoonie) was a vibrant woman with a bubbly, warm, witty, and lovable personality. Whether it was her love for The Holy Bible or her competitive spirit while playing Solitaire (Spider), her liveliness was infectious.
Janet (Schoonie) was a devout attendee at St. John Christian Community Church. She was Baptized ...... and held her faith close to her heart. She served on the Deaconist Board. Often helped in the Soup Kitchen and volunteered to help when needed for the Young Adult Christian Girls Club, "The Jewels."
She was known for her unwavering strength, kindness, and persistent spirit, a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Her passions in life were many and varied. A lover of strawberry shortcake and Diet Coke,. Janet also appreciated the joy of shopping online. She had a unique way of staying active—by rolling her arms around—and thoroughly enjoyed watching Family Feud and cheering for The Baltimore Ravens.
Janet had a knack for finding happiness in the simplest of things, like whenever she spent time with her grandchildren. She worshiped and adored each of them. Jamera she would call and say, " I want fish, can you do my eyebrows and polish my hands and toes." With no intention to go any ware. She admired her self and would strike a pose for the camera. Vinita she would often call and say, "this phone is acting out again," "I need help with this computer," Vinita would say "ok grandma did you try this or that." She would say an unassuming Yes. Vinita new it was time to come over.
Janet (Schoonie) adored the hymns "He's Sweet I Know," "Total Praise," and "It Is Well with My Soul," filling her home with harmonious melodies that mirrored her spirited soul. An endearing lesson she shared was, "Be persistent and never let your guard down,".
In December 1990, Janet found her soulmate < Edward Jennings and together over 30 shared an enduring love. A love that brought them together just 3 months of meeting each over. I call that love at first sight.
She is survived by her doting husband, Edward Jennings; her loving daughters, Karen Taylor, Myra Givens ; her supportive sister, Reverend Alberta Johnson; her caring son-in-law, Fabian Givens; and her cherished granddaughters, Vinita Taylor and Jamera Givens and a host of nieces and nephews.
