Jan's obituary

Janet M Geddes, 77, of Tucson, AZ, passed away on January 17, 2022, after a battle with COPD and other ailments.

Jan was born on January 1, 1945, to R Koren in Chicago, IL. She was adopted as a newborn and given a loving home and family by Marjorie and Frances Geddes. She has 1 brother Michael Frances Geddes. Jan was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by the remainder of her loving family. She had 4 children: Naima Schuller (Rick), Noe Flores, Stasia Floley, and Talitha Gilmore (Anthony). She was a grandmother to 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter: Shadrach, Sylas, Ien, Jerrika, Desmond, and Benjamin. Jan loved her family with all her heart!

She grew up in Tucson and spent her days exploring the desert. Jan was a passionate gardener and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her yard planting trees or flowers. She also had a special love for her pets, especially dogs. This is not surprising considering she always wanted to be a vet. We will miss her greatly.

This woman, known as "Mom" by her four children, actually had many names; Jan, Janny, Jade, Tamale Lady, etc. She was a dynamic person, able to have a conversation with anyone. She made friends easily wherever she went. She shared her stories freely. Some of her stories where downright improbable! She gave stories and love to all. Some stories she didn't remember but should be told, so this is an invitation to share your stories of her life to be included in a book about her life. Let us know if you would like to make it an anonymous entry. Please send an email to atripbook@gmail.com. We appreciate your time in better understanding our mom's impact on others.

The family is requesting donations to either Casa Maria https://casamariatucson.org/ or to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona https://hssaz.org in lieu of flowers. There will be a memorial at Tucson Botanical Gardens on Saturday March 5, 2022 at 5pm.
