Janet's obituary
In loving memory of our mother, Janet Lynn Dutka~Becich, 73, of League City, Texas. She was laid to eternal rest on September 11, 2022. Janet was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully in her home. Our mother fought Alzheimer’s heroically for 7 long years.
Janet was born April 26, 1949 to Joseph and Irene Dutka with a brother, James. She was raised in the Chicago area in her hometown Hegewisch. After graduating St. Frances De Sales High School she worked for the Social Security Administration in downtown Chicago. She was passionate about her job and advanced in many roles. Later, Janet married and started a family.
She married Peter Becich (Divorced) and relocated in 1978 to Texas. Together they raised three beautiful children Vanessa Lynn Becich~Derks, Brian Michael Becich, and Bradley Eric Becich.
After going through divorce, Janet made it her sole purpose to raise and provide for her children. She found her way into the workplace with the experience of being a housewife and mother for all her married years. With no work history to list on a resume it was her ambition and motivation that landed her first job at Garden Ridge, her stocking role advanced all the way to management. She partnered with her best friend Miriam and found ways to generate extra income working 2/3 side jobs entailing weekly house cleanings, baking cakes, and making floral arrangements. Her hard work ethics led to a career at Rose Steel, she began in sales and within months she was promoted to executive office manager. Janet never gave up in life, overcoming all of her trials with grace and glory.
Janet loved God & her faith, traveling, bowling, the Catholic Church, shopping, casinos, her television shows; All Law & Orders, Dynasty, Knot’s Landing, Dallas, Falcon Crest, Three’s Company, Johnny Carson, The Golden Girls, General Hospital, Roseanne, Cagney & Lacey, Maude, Magnum PI, Blue Bloods, CSI, Hart to Hart, Matlock, Fantasy Island, and many more pictures as she would say, concerts, Elvis, JFK & Jackie Kennedy, family outings, celebrations, spending holidays together, her homes, keeping up with polish traditions & foods, coca cola, chocolate candies, all sweets, Bingo, Yahtzee, 99.1, Christmas, Steve’s, Ted’s, Purple Steer, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, Joe Lee’s, and she always loved her dogs Pierre, Coco, and Yurmie.
Janet will always be the central figure/guiding light in the lives of her children. They are her world, and all that mattered to her. She is the star in her children's eyes. She dedicated herself to her family not by obligation but in love and sacrifice. It was her priority to make sure her children were safe, secure, loved, and happy in their lives.
To know Janet is to love her. She is blessed with 7 grandchildren Kayla, Kyra, Troy, Myles, Brianna, Ben, and Bradley. She has 2 great grandchildren Emory and Levi. Her son-in-law Troy and daughter-in-law Kelly love her very much. She has a loving niece Linda (Lenny), loving nephews Johnny (Patricia) and Greg (Ann).
There is a forever emptiness in our lives. We may only walk this earth for a while but our departure reminds us of our faith in God’s promise of unity in eternal life. Janet, our mother, has now gone before us but her goodness, her heart, her caring, her wisdom, and her guiding light will live here with us and her love will surround us and bring peace to our hearts.
Janet entered eternal rest with her father Joseph Dutka, her mother Irene Dutka, her brother James Dutka, her sister~n~law Rosemary, her Aunt Virginia Abrahm, her cousin Mike Abrahm, her grandparents, and all other family who now rest. Please consider a donation in Janet Becich's name to the Alzheimer's Association, as this organization is important to honor her memory.
A Life Well Lived and Loved Forever In Our Hearts.
