Janet's obituary

Janet Elaine (Cipar) Di Ponio, wife, mother, grandmother and beachgoer with a zest for life lived hers surrounded by family and friends.

Jan passed away peacefully on May 27th, 2025 at the age of 79 with her son Phillip by her side.

Jan grew up and worked in Chicago, IL until moving to Hartland, MI to raise her family. Her biggest joy and gift was being mom to her four children.  Jan thrived as a mother, a master of leading crafts, planning activities and adventures. She was an avid animal lover from dogs to bunnies and reptiles alike. Jan also loved books and enjoyed her time and friends at Cromaine Library.

Throughout Jan’s life in Michigan she could be spotted on Long Lake, a tennis court, attending Red Wing games, tailgating (like a pro) at MSU for football games as well as her children’s track meets, soccer matches, etc. She loved to entertain in style from small dinner parties to big bashes at home.

As an empty nester Jan moved to FL to enjoy her life long love of the beach. She was an avid beachcomber, creating beautiful crafts from the treasures she found.

Jan was the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Hudec) Cipar and is survived by her brother Joe, her children Gerry (Paola), Dawn (Slawek), Phillip (Kevin), Tony (Cindy) and her grandchildren, Marisa, Marco, Mila, Sophie and Oliver.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers we ask you make a donation to Gumbo Limbo, a place dear to Jan’s heart. https://www.pledge.to/organiz…)
