Janet's obituary

Janet Lorraine Delvison was born Janet Lorraine Jones on December 23, 1949 to the late Marion Lott Jones and the late Ethel Mae Jones.  Janet was the youngest of four children (and she not only knew it but took full advantage).   She often got away with murder whenever she flashed her pearly whites.  Especially to her father.  This did not necessarily make her a favorite with the other siblings.   But Janet didn't care.  She was full of energy, opinions and creativity.

Janet was born in Baltimore, MD and attended Baltimore City Public Schools.

She dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on May 18, 1963 at 13 years of age. Janet used her summers to preach and teach about Jehovah.  One summer, she decided to visit her sister Marian, who was serving as a special pioneer in the deep south.  If anyone knows Janet, you know she was quick to share her opinions and thoughts.  As you can imagine, that trait didn't go over so well in the deep south, so her sister had to send her back up North.  And Janet had no problem with that, as you can imagine.

Janet's outspokenness worked up North and made the ministry very enjoyable to her and the people she spoke to.

Janet could talk to anyone, anywhere.  A trait that she passed on to her children.

Janet loved music and was already a good dancer.  She also loved to sing and studied singing for a short time at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD.  Janet was often asked to sing at weddings and even sang in a band for a time.

One time, during a part given by Bro. E. E. Alexander, Janet had the privilege of singing Kingdom songs on stage at a Circuit Assembly with  several other friends.

Janet loved the fashion of the '70s.  The afros, the HUGE butterfly collars, etc.  But most of all, she loved bell bottoms because, as she put it,  "you can put your socks on after you put your pants on".   And she also had a tragic obsession with blouses that had a tieable bow right at the collar.  An obsession she tried to pass to her daughters (no matter what the decade was).   Thankfully she was not successful.

It was in the 70's that Janet married her husband.  They both were lovers of music and often performed together.  It was this love of music that helped Janet aid one of her closest friends to come to know Jehovah.

Janet attended the Rosemont, Garrison, Forest Park, Windsor Mill, Randallstown and Hebbville  congregations.

She retired from the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked for 30 years.

About 5 years ago, Janet was misdiagnosed with Parkinsons. After further testing, it was determined that she actually had Corticobasal Syndrome.

After a long battle with Corticobasal Syndrome, Janet fell asleep in death the morning of Thursday December 8, 2021.

Janet had four children.  Aaron and then Christina.  After ten years she had a boy and a girl again, Michael and then April.  Janet was predeceased by her older sister, Barbara Ray.
