Janet's obituary

Janet Kay Bollacker (Pitschke)

April 27, 1953 – January 24, 2026

Janet Kay Bollacker, 72, of Castle Rock, Colorado, gained her angel wings on January 24, 2026. Born on April 27, 1953, to James and Barbara Pitschke in Denver, CO, Jan was the third of four children. Her childhood was filled with playing sports, attending sporting events and sun-filled summers at Pinehurst Country Club, swimming and playing tennis. Jan was close to her parents and siblings and cherished the time spent with her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A 1971 graduate of Arapahoe High School, Jan began her professional journey at her father’s auto auction. Her ambition soon led her to the world of real estate, where she earned her license and built a thriving career. While she found success as a landlord and agent, her true professional passion was realized in the designing and building of custom homes. Known for her tenacity and wit, Jan took great pride in her various businesses and the many partnerships she forged along the way. Jan’s professional legacy lives on through her daughter's careers. She passed on her passion of real estate to Melissa. They shared many business adventures together from fix and flips, remodels and new builds as Jan taught Melissa the tricks and trades of the business. The financial aspect of her career was shared with Jamie through the world of construction banking.

Jan was, above all, a dedicated mother to her two daughters, Melissa Kay (born 1979) and Jamie Lynn (born 1981). She ensured they always came first, providing them with a foundation of love, honesty, and instilled in them tireless work ethic. She shared her vibrant spirit with them through travel—from the beauty of tropical beaches and historical landmarks to the excitement of cruises and many other memorable vacations. Jan was also pretty dang good in the kitchen and shared her love for delicious dishes by making home cooked meals – some favorites were green chili, lasagna, spaghetti and amazing homemade meatballs, and incredible themed cakes she decorated by hand when her girls were in their younger years.

In 2011, Jan gained a son-in-law, Chris Hofmann, and joyfully dove into planning his and Jamie’s Hawaiian-themed wedding and helping them remodel their first home. She later embraced her favorite role as a doting grandmother to Preston, rooting him on at his sporting events and lovingly attending his birthday celebrations and school events, Grandma Jan was always ready for a card game or holiday celebration with Peeg.

An avid sports lover, Jan was a constant fan in the stands, on the field or watching from home. Whether she was playing volleyball, softball, and bowling, or cheering on her beloved Broncos, Nuggets, and Avalanche, her enthusiasm was infectious. Her kindness extended to her many dogs over the years, who were treated to a life of luxury, long walks, and home-cooked meals.

Jan—affectionately known as “Mama Jan,” “Janet From Another Planet” “Janimal,” or “Janny”—is survived by her daughters, Melissa Bollacker, Jamie (Bollacker) Hofmann (Husband Chris Hofman and Grandson, Preston Hofmann) her dog, Daisy Mae; and her siblings, Larry Pitschke, Carol Gill (Peter), and Lynn Grey (Marke), many nieces and nephews. Jan will be remembered for her loyalty and devotion to her family and friends. She will be forever loved and forever missed.
