Janesia's obituary

Janesia Maria Thompson entered this world on February 29, 1964, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, born to George Thompson Jr. and Hattie Pettus. Even as a young girl, Janesia's vibrant spirit shone brightly. Her remarkable speed on the track earned her awards, a testament to her determination and drive. The family's move to Brooklyn, New York, brought new chapters, including the birth of her beloved son, Stephen, at the age of sixteen. Janesia, resilient and intelligent, never allowed any obstacle to deter her, excelling in every endeavor she pursued. She had her first and only child Stephen with Stephen Thomas at 16 years old. She always wanted more kids so having grandchildren was the best of both worlds. For 26 years, she shared a deep and dynamic connection with Renzi Williams, a relationship marked by love, laughter, and growth. Janesia carried herself with a quiet strength, yet her competitive nature ignited fiercely when challenged. Above all, she cherished her family. Her love for music, her joyful singing and dancing, and the radiant smile she wore during time spent with her nieces and grandchildren were hallmarks of her life. Though her time with us was too brief, her memory will be held dear. Preceded in death by her mother and sister, Stephonia Thompson Janesia leaves behind the love of her life Renzi, son, Stephen and daughter-in-law, Erica; her nieces Tyeisha, Rishena, Jalessa, and Kendra (Timothy); her nephews Raphael (Britney) and Jarvis; her great nieces Harmony, Desera, and Jade, great nephews Damion, Damitri, and Jayce; her sister, Ethel; her brother-in-law, Al; and her five cherished grandchildren, Amir, Stephen, Julian, Deon, and David. They will forever miss her signature "smoochies" at the end of every call and farewell.
