Janeil's obituary
Janeil Ririe Hancock passed away peacefully in her home in Tempe, Arizona on October 8, 2025. She was 83 years old.
Born on December 26, 1941, in Santa Monica, California to Ralph and Eathel Ririe, Janeil was the second of four children. She is preceded in death by her older brother, Robin Ririe, and is survived by her sisters, Penelope Rolfe and Eileen Lundquist.
Janeil married George Hancock in 1965 in the Los Angeles Temple. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. In 1968, they moved to Arizona, which became home for the rest of her life.
Janeil was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves behind her three children, John (Mitzi), Lisa (John Hunt), and Scott (Stacey); ten cherished grandchildren; and thirteen adored great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hancock, and her eldest grandchild, Douglas Hunt.
Janeil loved her family deeply and expressed that love through kindness, service, and her unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. A talented organist and devoted servant, she shared her time and talents willingly with all who knew her.
Funeral services for Janeil will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2202 N 74th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona. A viewing will take place from 9:00–9:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mesa City Cemetery.
