Jane's obituary
Jane Wilson Wilkie, of Lexington, SC, passed away on Saturday evening, February 5, 2022, at Hospice following an extended stay in the hospital. She was 91. Born to R.D. and Vida Wilson on October 18, 1930 in East Durham, NC, she attended East Durham High School and following graduation she married J.C. Wilkie, Jr. Jane and J.C. lived in Durham, Augusta, GA, Indianapolis, IN, Shawnee Mission, KS, Oklahoma City, OK, Corte Madera, CA, Annandale, VA, Irmo, SC and Surfside Beach, SC. Jane’s most recent years were spent at Carolina Gardens in Lexington, SC.
For many years, Jane was an award-winning doll maker winning more than fifty first and second-place ribbons at the South Carolina State fair for her collectable hand-sewn dolls. She loved the beach, eating sushi and oyster shooters, cooking, and throwing big parties.
Jane is survived by her children, Keith Wilkie of Meggett, SC, David Wilkie of West Columbia, and Laurie Jackson of Irmo, grandchildren Erin Wilkie, Jillian Wilkie, Ryan Wilkie, Emily Wilkie, Alex Jackson, Adam Jackson, Austin Jackson and Amelia Parrott and her seven loving great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by JC, her husband of 62 years. In 1948, while they were still dating, JC wrote: “everything that is sweet, good, beautiful and kind is wrapped up in one little package and that little package is you” and everyone that ever met her would agree, remaining true until her final day with us.
Jane is a donor to the Anatomical Gift Program at the Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Regenerative Medicine and Cell Biology.
