Jane's obituary
Jane Montigny, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on January 30, 2023, at Charlestown Senior Living Community in Catonsville, Maryland at the age of 91. Born on September 3, 1931, to Paul and Blanche Desy in Worcester Massachusetts, she grew up in neighboring Oxford.
Jane married Norman Montigny on June19,1954 and together they raised four children. During their long and loving marriage, Norm and Jane resided in Washington DC, Connecticut, Nebraska, Massachusetts, and several years in England before returning to Annapolis, Maryland where they spent most of their lives prior to moving to South Bethany, Delaware in their retirement.
Jane graduated from Oxford High School and Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. She had a successful career in the US Army Counterintelligence Corps, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Bowie State University, and the Ford Aerospace Corporation until her retirement in 1989.
A loving wife and mother, Jane was happiest surrounded by family and friends. Among her favorite pastimes were family gatherings that grew to include a multitude of friends that thought of her as their own family. She will be remembered by many for her infectious smile, quick-witted sense of humor and the ability to make everyone feel at home. She also enjoyed traveling, adventurous activities including white water canoeing and spending time with friends wherever she lived. In retirement, she also enjoyed supporting her community as a member of The South Bethany Women’s Club.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Norman Montigny, son Peter of Atlanta, GA, son Jonathan (Cheryl) of Pasadena, MD, and daughter Lisa (Jeffrey) Cann of Pasadena, MD. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and her sister, Ann. Jane was preceded in death by her daughterPamela La Lumiere (Robert), two sisters and a brother.
A Celebration of Life to honor Jane will be held Saturday, March 4, 1:00 PM, at Our Lady of Angels Chapel, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, Maryland located in Charlestown Retirement Senior Living Community.
