Jane's obituary
Jane Macaluso peacefully departed this life on July 25, 2025, in Sacramento, CA at the age of 78, surrounded by her family. She was cherished as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was born on May 22, 1947 in San Jose, where she went to high school and raised her two beautiful daughters. She was a strong-willed woman who was resilient and worked hard throughout her life, with her first job cutting apricots as a teenager. She spent over 40 years as a legal secretary, initially at the district attorney office and then at private law firms before retiring in 2013, when she moved from San Jose to Sacramento to help care for her newly born twin grandsons.
Jane had a zest for life and exemplified the meaning of family. She never forgot a birthday, graduation, anniversary, or significant moment in the lives of those she loved. She valued time with her family, whether watching sports or game shows, playing cards, or taking trips, especially to Tahoe or Vegas. She spent most weekends with her family, enjoying her grandsons and a glass of wine while working on the weekly People crossword puzzle.
Jane was an amazing mother to Janet, loving mother-in-law to Jason, and a devoted Nana to Jaxon and Jakob Torre. She was a fantastic aunt to her nieces, nephew, grand nieces, and grand nephews. She was a loyal sister to her older brother Vincent Macaluso and sister-in-law Joanne Macaluso. She was an endearing friend to those she knew throughout her life and to those she met over the last decade in Sacramento. She leaves behind family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Jodi Mushock, son-in-law Scott Mushock, her parents Anthony and Rose Macaluso, her sister Rosanne Esteves, and her twin sister Jean Whitaker.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Dante Event Center, 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento.
