Jane's obituary

Jane duPont
1960-2019

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Jane, a loving and magical friend to all whose lives she touched, on November 25, 2019.

She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Newtown, PA, less than a week shy of her 59th birthday. Jane was a lifetime resident of Bucks County.

Jane spent her life following her passions, a life philosophy that inspired all that knew her.

Even though she was childless by choice, she dedicated her life to early childhood education, working as a nanny to many children whom she taught and nurtured from tots to teens. Children loved her; their parents adored her. Her tools often included magic wands and fairy dust and a never-ending supply of patience. Every craft, every song, and every book were filled with a life lesson that her children carried into adulthood.

Jane was well known in Basset Hound circles, raising many and loving each one with undying dedication. Truly, she loved all animals.

Her eclectic collection of friends included many artists and musicians who will fondly recall “Ray-Gun” Jane, who danced entire nights away in the front row of their shows, shooting them with mystical rays that guaranteed their success and surely still brings a smile to their hearts upon remembering. The Philadelphia and South Jersey music scene just wouldn’t have been the same without her. She was especially fond of The Dead End Kids and spoke of her enduring friendships (and adventures!) with its members throughout her life. She loved music and never missed the chance to see a live show, whether it was a local band or national act. In Japan, she is known as “Snoopy”, a moniker given to her by the members of Loudness. Why? Because that was Jane- always laughing, always happy, always floating a few feet above everyone else.

Aside from being well-read, Jane was also well traveled. She loved nothing more than stretching out on a tropical exotic beach, snorkeling, and marveling at the beauty of it all. She spent many vacations in the islands, from British Virgin Gorda to Jamaica to St Lucia, making lifelong friends wherever she ventured. She was always a little Sun-Kist. Her fear of flying was but a minor obstacle!

Her love of decadence in all things involving food and spirit is a trait that no one can ever forget. Jane was an excellent and adventurous cook who had no fear of sampling life’s offerings, even if it entailed eating a sea urchin right from its shell! A fine dinner and a lovely cocktail were one of her life’s greatest pleasures. Those who were lucky enough to sample the beautifully presented fare she often served to family and friends would have a hard time declaring their favorites. She was as passionate about French food as she was about Moroccan, Italian, Indian, Mexican, or Japanese, and everything in between. She sought out unusual delicacies and delighted in sharing the experience.

Jane is preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Fernando and Rose Diaz; her youngest sister, Christina Cooper; and her dear friend and roommate of many years, Tom Hutton. She is survived by her mother, Fernanda (Eddie) Cooper of Hainesport NJ; brother, Ricky Cooper; her sister, Kim (Robert) Cooper of Sarasota FL; and nephews, Shane, Caden, Ricky, and Shawn. She leaves behind hundreds of friends who will never forget her.

It was Jane’s wish that no funeral or service be held upon her passing. She wanted her family and friends to remember her spirit that radiated with love and life.

The next time you gather, raise a glass and share a memory of our Sweet Jane.

Making a donation to your favorite Animal Rescue or Arts and Music Programs for Children in her name would be a wonderful testament to her life.

May God Rest Her Soul.
