I have known JANNE for 56 years and have loved her each and every one of them. I was privileged to be a part of her last chapter through the good and not so good times. She did not go down that road gently and was her spunky self in so many ways.  My heart will be forever touched by this special lady and I take comfort in knowing she has passed through this trial with glowing colors. Well done, my friend.

Janne was such an interesting, fun person with a heart of gold. She touched so many lives. I always enjoyed her stories of growing up in Missouri. This was a lovely  write up that truly captured Janne’s essence. ❤️ Chrissie & Kenny Skees
Sorry to hear of Janne's passing.  She was so fun to be with.  The alzheimers really took its toll when it came  after her.  So sorry for your loss.

Geoff, I am so sorry to hear about Jane’s passing. She was a valued member of the Azalea Unity Circle of the King’s Daughters.  Please know our circle members who knew Janne are thinking about her and the time she spent helping raise money for the children’s hospital.

I met Janne in 1994 when she became my "neighbor" in the classroom next to mine at Chesterfield Academy.  The school was one of the first magnet schools for elementary students in Norfolk, and it was  open to students throughout the city.  Our focus was on Science, Math, and Technology (an early STEM school - without the vowel).  The teachers who wished to teach there had to be interviewed and chosen for this pilot program.  Even though Janne had previously been a Reading Teacher at another school, she was excited to try this new program, and she did a wonderful job of incorporating Language Arts into the program as well.  Those of us who taught there truly felt like a tight-knit community of pioneers, and we enjoyed working together at school and playing together in after hours.

Janne became an honorary "aunt" to my two daughters and spent many evenings over at my house where we would invite her for supper.  She attended my older daughter's wedding and my younger daughter's graduation from college.  We enjoyed having her along with us for many other events, both big and small.  I

As someone who was born in Illinois, very close to St. Louis, MO, I was amazed to here Janne pronounce her home state "Miz-zo-rah" instead of "Miz-zoo-ree".  She explained that in the western part of the state that was how it was said.  I let her get by with that, but it sounded totally wrong to me every time she said it.  I am so glad that there are these two events in Virginia and Missouri to celebrate her life.  She will be missed and remembered by her friends for her outgoing, friendly, and adventurous style.

Janne was a sparkplug for Northeast and was loved by everyone she met ! I felt privileged to know such a fine person!!

I am sorry to hear of Janne's passing. She was a great woman, and she shared many wonderful times and memories with me and my extended family. My Dad and Janne were cousins, and she was a frequent visitor to MO and KS. When she came, she always made time to visit us and shared laughter, stories, and grace. May she rest in peace.

My family and I would like to be informed when a date for Janne's celebration of life is determined. Thank you.
