Jay's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jan "Jay" Stodghill, who left us on October 29, 2025. Born on December 5, 1949, Jay cherished his 75 years with us enriching the lives of those around him. He will be profoundly missed, yet we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.
Jay was a man of simplicity and dedication, with a heart that held an immeasurable amount of love for his family and friends. His favorite pastimes were fishing and camping, always followed by sharing stories around the fire with his loved ones. He celebrated life with a glass of bourbon, relishing in the precious moments that unfolded in his company.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Stodghill, who supported him throughout the journey of life. Remembering him fondly are his children; daughters, Amy Councill and Laura Stodghill; and sons, Craig Stodghill and Austin Kollmann. His memory will live on in his brothers, Craig and Alan Stodghill, and sister, Shannon Bastin. Jay's mother, Nancy French, mourns the loss of her beloved son.
Preceding him in passing was his son, Shawn Dobry and his father, J. Mansfield Stodghill. While the pain of their absence is profound, we find comfort in knowing that they have been reunited once more.
Jay's legacy will be cherished in our hearts. Let his love for life be a reminder to pause, enjoy a good glass of bourbon, reel in a big fish, and laugh with friends around a crackling fire. As we remember Jay, we celebrate a life well lived and a man well loved. Rest in peace, Jay.
