James's obituary

James William Woodell, 41, of 1128 Honeycutt Road, Clinton, North Carolina, passed away at his home on June 11, 2025.

Born on August 22, 1983, James was the beloved son of Rexton and Linda Simmons. He was the proud father of one daughter, Michelle Woodell.

James will be remembered as a loving and kind soul—someone who was always willing to help anyone in need. His generosity and warmth touched the lives of many. He was also an Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Trampas Jennings Simmons, grandmothers Mary Ward & Alene Simmons, grandfathers Thomas Ward & Billy Simmons, aunt Barbara Naylor & uncles Keith Naylor, Tommy Ward, Roy Simmons and Danny Woodell.

In addition to his parents and daughter, James is survived by his brothers, Thomas Wayne Woodell and John Henry Woodell, both of Clinton; his sister, Toni Simmons (David) of Clinton; and his nieces, Alexis Lynn Simmons of Salemburg and Stormi Rayne Haynes of Clinton. He is also survived by his cousins, Amy Naylor Lockamy (Doug), cousins Norman (Rosa), Mike and Georgianna Adubato all of Clinton as well as family members Sherry (Keith) Fann, Leahana Fann, Dennis Coughlin & family, Thomas Coughlin, Christine & Christina Taylor, JR Woodell & family, Cathy Woodell, Valerie Ward, William (Donna) Ward & family and Crystal (Eric) Faircloth & family.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
