James Philip Woloshin, 71, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away May 23, 2023 after a long battle with Cancer.
Jim or Phil, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Durham, North Carolina on April 25, 1952. He, along with his parents and brothers, moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1958 where his Father was hired as an Associate Professor.
Phil attended Amphitheater High School and after service in the Army, attended the University of Arizona where he also worked as a Library Technician. Phil was a lifelong HO scale model railroader and a highlight of his career life was being hired by Union Pacific as a Conductor. He spent the remainder of his work days with Union Pacific until retiring due to medical issues.
Phil's work with the Armory Park Center's "Club #1", where he served as President, meant a lot to him, as did his work with the United Transportation Union, now known as "SMART".
Phil is survived by his loving siblings, Jeffrey Woloshin (Angela Townsend), Emily Woloshin (Kerry Huckabee) and Pam Jordan; Niece, Krystine (Tora) Woloshin; Nephew, Matthew Elmore (Hannah); Grand Nephew, Francis Miles Elmore. He is predeceased by his Mother, Peggy Woloshin; Father, David Woloshin; Brother, Eric Woloshin.
Friendships were important to Jim/Phil and we acknowledge the special long-time friendships he had with Bruce Stewart, Sophia Nordstrom, Brenna Patania and Craig Dibbern, who each spent hours providing love and support for him in his hospital room and caring for him, his home and his animals during his final days.
Final arrangements and interment are being handled by Avenidas Funeral Chapel in Tucson. Celebration of Life will take place on June 29, 2023 from 11:30-2:30 at the Armory Park Center Ballroom at 220 S. 5th Avenue in Tucson, Arizona. Most parking is metered. Lunch will be provided.
