James "Smitty" Smith, 80, of Spokane, WA, passed away on November 18, 2020 after a short battle with Covid-19.

James was born on 8/10/1940 to Bill and Francis in San Francisco, CA.  After graduating from Balboa High School in 1958, he sailed in the Merchant Marines for 1 years before joining the US Navy at a Meteorological Technician.  After serving 4 years , he went to work for the National Weather Service where he worked for 34 Years.  In 1963, he met Theodora Rose, and they wed in 1964, going on to have 3 children, Lisa, Kevin and Keith.    James was a passionate baseball Umpire and later in life developed a love of Golf and could often be found at the golf course when he wasn’t at home.


Anyone who knew James knew that he was the most loving father a family could ask for. James was predeceased by His Mother(Francis) and Father( Bill), Daugherty(Lisa) and Sister(Judy). He is survived by his Brother Scott, Sons Kevin and Keith and numerous grandchildren.  There will be a celebration of life at June 24, 2022 at Kevin's House in Walnut Creek ,CA.
