Jim was born in Lubbock, TX to Judith and W.T. Cole, Jr.  He grew up excelling in sports and found his passion in competing in, and later coaching, swimming.  Jim had the honor of competing in swimming at the collegiate level at Texas Tech University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science. 

In 1975, Jim married the love of his life Peggy Diane and they shared 50 years of love and joy.

Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy Diane; his son, James Michael and his wife, Stephenie; his daughter, Samantha Carter and her husband, Daniel; his brother, William Donald and his wife, Darla; and his grandchildren Hailey and Ashley Cole, and Katie and William Carter.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16th, at 11am, at Bay Area Church (4800 W. Main, League City, TX 77573)
