James's obituary
James Charles Whitney passed away on May 26, 2025, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 67. He was born July 29, 1957, to James Charles Whitney and Edna Jeanette Gresham Whitney.
James was a hardworking man who spent his life in construction. He wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and always gave it his all on the job. Back in the day, he saved up the money he earned working for his dad and used it to take flying lessons—something he was real proud of. Being up in the air meant a lot to him.
He made his home in the Savannah area for the last 20 years and enjoyed the simple things in life. James liked to have a good time, whether it was sitting around a bonfire, watching Family Guy, or diving into long sessions of war games. He had a soft spot for hummingbirds and loved being outside as much as he could.
He is survived by his son, Eric Whitney; sisters Michelle Casteel (Tony Moore) and Mary Whitney; and brothers Robert Whitney (Jeanette), Thomas Whitney (Stella), and Theodore Whitney (Jana). He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Peter Whitney, John Whitney, Collette Whitney, Jeffrey Whitney, Cherie Young, and Timothy Whitney.
