James's obituary

James Michael Whaley, born on March 12, 1952, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024. A known family man, dedicated worker, and supporter of his local community, his presence will be deeply missed.

James, referred to as "Mike", was the beloved son of the late James and Kathaleen Whaley. He was a man of simple pleasures, his favorite being the joy of a scoop of ice cream, a night cozied up with his grandmother's quilt, any version of Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol", or spending time engrossed in genealogy at his local library.

Mike had a passion for supporting local businesses, frequently visiting Chris's Restaurant and Savor Southern Kitchen. This support extended to his career at Tinney Painting, where he dutifully served for many years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

His interest in genealogy was not just a hobby, but a profound reflection of his deep love for family. His dedication to uncovering and preserving his family history was a testament to his strong belief in the importance of roots and heritage.

Mike's life was woven with threads of community service, family love, and a celebration of local culture. His absence leaves behind a void, but his legacy lives on in the countless memories he has created, the many lives he has touched, and the many hearts he has warmed. We will remember him for his unwavering support, generous spirit, and engaging wit. His life, indeed, was a life well-lived.

Rest in peace, Mike. You will forever remain in our hearts.
