James's obituary

With love and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life and legacy of James Warren Steen, who was born on August 11, 1952, in Gonzales, Texas, to Frances and Jim Steen.

At an early age, he accepted Christ and was a faithful member of Henson Chapel Methodist Church, where his spiritual foundation was rooted. He grew up in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School before continuing his education at Trinity University in San Antonio, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.

He began his professional journey serving as a Pulmonary Technologist at Bexar County Hospital, where he dedicated many years to caring for others with compassion and skill. Always willing to grow and explore new paths, he later attended Hicks Barber & Beauty School, using his talents to serve and connect with his community in a different way. He eventually became a truck driver, working diligently until his health began to decline.

As the oldest of three children, he held a special place in his family, offering love, guidance, and strength. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Kay Ball of Houston, Texas; his brother, Donald Steen; and his sister-in-law, Elsa Steen. He is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was truly loved by many, and his presence will be deeply missed. His life was a reflection of faith, resilience, and the meaningful connections he built along the way.

Though he has transitioned from this life, his legacy of love and perseverance will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
