James W. Farris, Jr., 72 of Gallup, New Mexico, passed away October 17, 2024. Jim was born to James Ward Farris and Louise Moorehead on August 12,1952 in Beloit, Kansas. Jim was raised in Goodyear AZ and graduated Agua Fria High School. He served in the US Navy and was a proud Seabee.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Georgia Farris, two daughters, Tammy Hudgins (James), Katrina Marquez, (Lupe), grandchildren Gavin Hudgins and Trisha Stevenson, brothers Robert Lee Farris and Guy Farris, (Danelle), sisters Vonnie Prescott and Peggy Walker, (Mike), brother-in-law Barry Shugart and sister-in-law Patsy Williams and numerous nieces, nephews and family members. Jim was preceded in death by parents, sisters Norma (Red) Calvin and Kathy Hope Ellis.

Jim’s many talents were widely known and he happily shared them with his family and friends. As a master mechanic Jim’s skills allowed him to do what he loved and provide for his family. The hunt campsites will never be the same without him, but Jim’s spirit will always be with us.

Services will be Saturday October 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Cope Memorial Chapel, 1830 Barbara Ave., Gallup NM.
