Pastor Trewern was one of the most honorable and Godly men I have ever meant. He always cared for you even in the midst of turmoil. There were many times that his counsel was the one who I went to. I was so young in the Arizona district council office and he was a standard bearer for above board character and behavior. I always will remember words and advice that he, and Jane, gave me forever. Sister Jane and the family have been so important to me. I am praying for you all.

Sectional conference — with Joy and Dan West with Brother Trewern

Bro. Trewern was an honorable man who walked faithfully to the end.

During our first itineration to go to Spain, I remember a sermon Bro. Trewern preached in 1988 in Wilcox during the sectional council about being the “Salt of the Earth”. He personified that sermon.

Through the years Brother Trewern helped Joy and I, and encouraged us in our missionary career. He always asked about how ministry was going on the field, and he made us feel like family. His influence and example touched many young ministers. The Arizona Network is blessed and honored to have had him as part of the ministerial body. We were blessed to see him at the last sectional council in Prescott.

We are praying for Sister Jan and the family during this time of sorrow. Heaven is richer.

"Brother Trewern", as I affectionally called him through the years, was such a blessing in my life. The entire Trewern family has meant much to my wife, Carla and me. I so appreciate his ministry legacy within our Arizona Ministry Network. I must add too, I respected the way he retired from influential ministry and kept active and healthy in his lifestyle! We will certainly miss James Trewern and are remembering Jan and the entire family in our prayers.

Jim Trewern was my pastor when I was a teenager. His family and mine were friends, we spent a lot of Sunday afternoons with them.  He married us, dedicated my babies and preached my son’s funeral. He was one of the best pastors I’ve ever had. Sister Trewern, Jay, Jerry and Jeneva and your families I am praying for God’s comfort during this difficult time. I love you guys.

So much love, respect and honor from our family to yours.

Pastor Jim, you are an example of a strong leader, man of faith and loving husband, father, grandpa and Pastor.

Thank you for always encouraging us and showing us so much support as we continue the work you started at the “church by the Post Office.”

We stand on your and Jan’s faithful love, leadership and service and are sending our love and prayers to Jan and your entire family.

Much love and honor,

Jeremy & Rachel Peters

I remember Jim and Jan as pastors when I was a child. The spiritual feasting, fellowship and so many more great memories . As our family along with several others in the Carlsbad Riverside church fellowshipped together friendships that lasted a lifetime developed between my parents (Loyd & Shirley Jackson), Jim/Jan, the Wickerts and the Cassidy’s. As the years went by my parents continued to speak fondly of get togethers with this group of spiritually bound friends. I have always been inspired by this meaningful bond. What a legacy Jim left along with Jan. I always loved hearing about it. My parents greeted Jim in heaven at his homecoming. What a celebration as all this friend group is there but for two. My thoughts and prayers are with Jan and all the family as the loss is still felt greatly while we remain here on this earth. Even while we are rejoicing for Jim. Love and prayers.
Jim Trewern was the first pastor I remember. As a small child, I have such positive, beautiful memories of how he truly displayed love towards the body of Christ that he was shepherding!
My heart felt condolence to the entire Trewern family.  One of the best and fun filled Pastors I’ve ever had the experience of knowing.  God truly blessed me through his ministry.

A mentor of the highest degree. Committed and dedicated to the cause of Christ. Wisdom and always had something worthwhile to say. He provoked great respect. We loved him dearly.

Pastor Jim was one of the kindest, wisest man we have known! We will miss his warm  smiles and hugs as we greeted him faithfully every Sunday!!! Praying for you, Jan and your family!!!

Integrity, honor, truth, love, faith, servant, humble, grit, prayer warrior, encourager, prayer walker,  friend and fisherman for both men and fish! Your smile, love, prayers, laughter and wise words will be missed.

My prayer for you all as family is that God will bring comfort and peace. Thank-you for sharing Jim with us! His legacy will go on for many generations! I will always think of Jim each time I set foot on Journey’s campus.

Once we all get to heaven I am sure he will have further fishing stories to share!

Much love and prayers for you all!

Jim was and will likely always be one of my very favorite people. He and Jan mentored me in the ministry and serving with them in Cottonwood was one of the highlights of my life. Thank you, Trewern family, for allowing me to be part of your world. This is a great loss for all of us.  I love you all.
