I wanted to express my sincere condolences to cousin Jimmy's family. We really lost touch due to circumstances which prevailed over the past few years. Our families had many special Christmas's at their home on Adelaide in the Glebe. Jimmy would always help his Mom and Dad in the preparation of the dinner. My poor Aunt Eunice also wanted the table perfect. He attended many social events and loved to mingle with people. We'll miss you Jimmy, lots of towns near the St. Lawrence will never be the same. God Bless!

When I wish upon a star I wil…
When I wish upon a star I will think of you Jim (Jiminy Cricket) 😉

I first came to know Jim (aka Jiminy Cricket) back in the 80s when he worked with my father, Gord Givens, building our family home on Jockvale Road near Manotick.  Only 5-7 years difference between my brother and I, Jim soon became like part of our family [Dorene (Doramae), Eric & Lisa], and would partake in various antics with us kids - some involving green slime, water pistols and buckets of water dropped over unsuspecting bystanders from above rooftops to name a few!  I also have a fond memory of riding the SUPERLOOP at the Ottawa Exhibition (SuperEX) with Jim where he laughed and screamed himself silly while at the same time losing all of his spare pocket change - no matter!  Jim even accompanied our family on a trip to Florida and Walt Disney World.

Jim was a very likable, fun-loving and hardworking guy but most of all what I will remember about Jim is his thoughtfulness and generosity extended to others.  One of my prized possessions is a 16x22 inch framed picture of my first horse Flash which Jim had given to me when I was 13 years old.

Over the years I had lost touch with Jim but in the spring of 2022 he showed up unexpectedly at my house and asked me if I knew who he was.  The voice was so familiar but I had trouble placing it at first until Jim quickly hinted about a Florida road trip and the nickname “Jiminy Cricket”.  The rest as we say is history.  I am grateful that I had the opportunity to reconnect with Jim and visit with him on several occasions over the past year as well as introduce him to my own family and hear about his children Brian and Dawn and meet his granddaughter Myah.  I even got out the old picture frame of Flash which was in surprisingly good shape after 42+ years!

On behalf of myself and my husband and children (Yvan, André & Mackenzie), I would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences especially to you Brian, Dawn and Myah.  May you find comfort and peace in your many cherished memories and keepsakes.

I only knew Jim for a short while through the Givens family, but I know that whenever he visited, he often had something in hand to brighten the day of others. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
Rest In Peace Jimmy, it’s shocking to learn this news,  Haven’t seen you in awhile, but looks like you were as busy as you ever were.  Dave and I had just been talking about you the other day.  May I offer your family my condolences on such a sad occasion.  May you live on in the hearts of all those you touched.  God bless.

Jim was a family friend for years ever since he met my Dad at Ottawa Tech and started on that path of building homes. We reconnected almost two years ago and reminisced about those years gone by. Years gone too fast.

On behalf of my Mom & Dad, I offer my heartfelt condolences to everyone touched by Jim over the years.

Family trip to Florida, Jim in tow, too many years ago.
Goodbye my friend. If anyone lived his life "my way", it has to be you. Right or wrong, you stuck to your guns! Many of the people you worked with didn't appreciate your strengths but there was no doubt you had a great mind. Having been your "boss", your one day only "father-in-law", your housing co-builder, your at the cabin fisher buddy, drinking partner, and long time friend and confidante, I think I knew you long enough to be able to say good and bad things about you. However the bad list is short and your good list is long. Your pride was in your children, Dawn and Brian and later on your granddaughter, Myah. You were a "critical" parent but not in a bad way. You had demands and expectations based on your own upbringing (like most of us). You believed in excellence and your duty to give everything 110%. That reflected on anyone who knew you and that was your expectation of them. To your now adult children and their offspring, I offer sincere condolences. Losing parents, no matter how natural in life that is, is never easy. Goodbye my friend!

Omg Jim! I can’t believe this. You were taken too soon. Wish I could have seen you one more time! I can’t believe this. My heart is with my beautiful Dawn. I still can’t believe this. You have suffered so much with loss of your mother and now father.  Here if you need me and I’ll be there for funeral
