James's obituary

James Everett Ticer, born October 3, 1955, concluded his life journey on February 14, 2018. Valentine’s Day. A day he entered into relationships and departed. The day he planned the birth of his only son and became engaged to his son’s mother. Most sadly the day he left this earth leaving a mark of beauty and wonder behind.

Jim was Founder and Managing Director at Everett James, LLP. An executive search firm serving the real estate capital markets and development community throughout the USA, Western Europe and Asia.

Holding thirty-eight year’s operating experience in the professional recruitment of real estate development, asset management and capital market professionals; as well as the organizational development of new and existing companies. He was one of the most senior search consultants in the United States and Western Europe, serving the global community in the areas of commercial, retail, mixed use and residential development as well as other operations.

After completing studies in behavioral psychology and economics at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1978, he quickly established himself as an adept search consultant; then served as Corporate Recruiter for a 900-employee commercial and residential development group with projects throughout the Midwestern US. He later served in a senior capacity at a Houston based national search firm and Partner at a Southwestern US based executive search group, specializing exclusively in real estate construction and development.

In 1990 Everett James was established as an outgrowth of the partnership. Two years later, upon learning he was about to be a father, he bought his wife a dog to guard over her and his soon to be born son, James Everett Ticer IV. Incidentally, as a man who was able to accomplish anything, including the impossible, if not clear in his career path, he was able to do these things at home too.

In anticipation of his son’s arrival, he brought home the dry mouthed black female Great Dane named Wilma, his wife had requested. Only Jim included one more gift. Wilma had been born on Valentine’s Day and she had a white heart on her chest.
Valentine’s Day was always very special to Jim. It marked new beginnings. New journeys, new paths carved to perfection - always beautifully and remarkably well done.

Jim, the King of Hearts. In 2018, for us, Valentine’s Day brought an end to someone who shone as a mythical god among men on earth. But it also brought a new beginning as Jim begins a new life away from ours though eternal in our hearts.
While he was here, Jim left behind beauty and perfection in all that he did. Those whose lives he touched, will never forget him for he will always reside in their hearts. And he will always be remembered through his son whom the best parts of Jim still live and shone from within.

James Ticer III is survived by his son, James Ticer IV; former wife and mother of his child, Denise Ticer; step daughters: Crystal Kyle, Savannah Rose and her two children; siblings: Valerie McDonald, Matt Ticer, Melissa Beaulieu, Steve Price; 6 cousins, 3 nephews, 3 nieces; and his widow.
