James's obituary
James Christian Studtmann, 35, of Brookfield, WI passed away unexpectedly February 10, 2020 after a sudden illness. The family invites you to celebrate the life of James on Friday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cedar Creek Clubhouse, 25775 W. 103rd St., Olathe, KS 66061. Casual attire, James hated suits.
James was born September 14, 1984 in Wichita, KS to Nathan and Lisa (Kruckenberg) Studtmann. He grew up in Great Bend and Dodge City, KS, Omaha, NE, and Houston, TX, graduating from Dodge City High School in 2003. James received two degrees in Food Science and Bakery Science & Management from Kansas State University in 2008. He spent the bulk of his career working for Kraft Foods and Nestle USA as a global research and development scientist specializing in pizza product development in both the USA and Europe. James married Rachel Wery in a most perfect match on May 18, 2019. He was devoted to Rachel and their two cardigan corgis, Clyde and Leia.
James is survived by his wife Rachel, parents Nathan and Lisa, brother Jon Studtmann (Tracey), grandparents Rosie and Larry Kruckenberg and Barb and Bob Studtmann, aunts and uncles Steve Kruckenberg, Lori (Kurt) Kruckenberg/Goldenstein, Linda (Andy) Kruckenberg/Alexander, Steve (Shonda) Studtmann, Elizabeth (John) Steele, cousins, nieces and a multitude of friends and coworkers.
Words alone cannot describe the delightfulness of James. His friend Kristen put it like this: “The kind of friend who would drop you a goofy text out of the blue. Could call up the most detailed events of a road trip 10 years ago. Inclusive. Genuine. Kind. Goofy as all get out. Music encyclopedia. Smart. Made you smile the entire time you were with him. Thoughtful. Used words like ‘dweeb’ in everyday vernacular. Irreplaceable. One-of-a-kind. God really showed off his creativity when he made James Studtmann, who will be sorely and wholly missed. A devastating loss, not for me, but for the world. He was a good human.”
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the James C. Studtmann Memorial Fund (M47294) which has been established at the Kansas State University Foundation.
