The parking break on the forklift at the shop wasn’t that good. I had parked the forklift up by the main building with the pallet of tile on the forks to keep it from moving.
The hydraulics settled and the forklift started rolling down the hill. It ran into a car first, pushed it out of the way and then proceeded down towards the lower warehouse building hitting the brick wall and coming to a stop halfway into the building
I remember Jim being very grateful that it didn’t hurt anybody. After I found out that if it would’ve been 10 feet to the right, it would’ve gone through the garage door that had several people working behind it and would’ve been very bad.
I was pretty afraid I was gonna lose my job and told Jim I was very sorry. He had a big heart over the whole deal and told me he had someone that owed him a favor that would fix up the building and to be more careful driving the forklift. I’ll never forget the grace he gave.
