Jim's obituary
James (Jim) Robert Scott, age 70, of Martinez, California, found eternal rest on Friday, May 12, 2023. Jim came into this world on November 21, 1952, to both loving parents Donald Roderick and Mary Carmel Scott. He was the youngest of four children, kept in line by his two older brothers, Don and Tom, and cherished by his sister Patricia, who protected him from the older two. Born in Sacramento, the family quickly relocated to San Francisco where Jim was raised in the Ashbury Terrace neighborhood, just blocks away from Haight Ashbury, where Jim would never admit to spending much time in the late 60s, as well as Kezar stadium. He attended Riordan High School, graduating in 1970, and graduated from University of San Francisco in 1975 with a Bachelors of Art in Political Science.
Jim moved to Walnut Creek and found work as a tool salesman at Sears in Concord, where (to our fortune), he was introduced to Marguerite (Reetz) Rose Teustchel. Jim and Reetz were happily married on June 24th 1979, and lived in blissful harmony until their peace was disrupted one Autumn day when their first born Robert (Robby) James came into this world in September 1980. Just a short while later, in 1982, Deborah (Debbie) Christine was added to the family, and just as order was restored to the universe, Jim and Reetz had one last special delivery in 1989; Andrew Joseph.
Jim worked as an Account Executive in the Food Industry, notably at Kellogs and General Mills. He also worked in the Insurance and Beverage and Food distribution field up until his retirement.
In March of 2000, Marguerite was diagnosed with cancer, and lost her battle by October of the same year. The family struggled to cope and move forward, but was held together by a strong father. Thankfully, Jim met the next love of his life, Nancy Marie Albertson in 2001 and married in 2003, and they continued for another 20 happy years of marriage.
Jim loved his San Francisco Giants, and was always 49ers Faithful. He became a loving father-in-law when Rob married Melanie (Mel) Suzanne Warling, and became a beaming proud grandfather when Rob and Mel brought both Natalie Marguerite and Elliott Robert into this world.
His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was a wonderful G-Pa. He loved spending time with both of them and being involved in their activities and accomplishments. Jim attended Christ the King Church in Pleasant Hill, where he was an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim loved family, friends, and travel, especially cruising.
He was easy to talk to and will be sorely missed. Friends, family and neighbors say the thing they remember is that he "always had a smile on his face and he loved to laugh." He came into this world to a happy family, and when he left, he was surrounded by the happy family he created.
Services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks for you to make a donation to The American Cancer Society.
