James's obituary
James accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church in Gadsden, South Carolina.He found joy in spending time with his family, traveling, bowling, dancing, and watching football. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on his John Deere tractor every morning, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee. He was also a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
James had a distinguished career, working for the federal government at the Strom Thurmond building from 1950 to 1978. He later joined Hammond School, where he worked until his retirement in the early 2000s.
In 1949, James married his beautiful wife, Dorothy L Reese, whom he loved and cherished more than anything. They began their family in 1952 and had eight children together.
James is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughters, Shirley, Dorothy Mae, Susanne, and Blondell; sons, James L and Christopher; grandchildren, Frederick Williams (Shonda McDonald Williams), Satora Higgins (Devin Brown), Samantha Reese, and Harry Reed Jr (Kadrea Reed); great-grandchildren, Nydia Williams, Taj McDonald, Jimmele Smith, and Yasheema Reed; and a host of great-great-grandchildren, beloved relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Jane, Herbert, and Annie Victoria; sons, Leroy and Leon; and great-grandchildren, Raeniesha and Tyjeriah.
