James's obituary

James “Paul” Ray, age 90, of Clermont, FL went to be with our Lord on April 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Ray Langlinais, his parents, sister, and two brothers. Paul grew up in Pontotoc, Mississippi and was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Paul was graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Accounting, becoming the first member of his family to attend college. His career started as an accountant for Texaco, Inc. in New Orleans, LA and many years later, he retired as the Vice President of Bay Drilling Corporation in Houma, LA.

Paul was known as a kind, soft-spoken, Southern gentleman, with an easy smile and great sense of humor. He was a devoted husband and father, who was both president of the Jaycees and coach for baseball and softball teams. He was a sports fan who especially enjoyed spring training baseball, the Saint Louis Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints. Paul was a green-thumb and could usually be found outside, tinkering in his beautiful garden, or chatting with neighbors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Antonia “Twan” Ray, son, Jeff Ray and Dana of West Palm Beach, Florida, daughter, Staci Ray and Mike of Winter Garden, Florida, and grandchildren: Grace, Cooper, Amber & Jessica. Paul was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a Funeral Mass will be held for him at a later date.
