James's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James 'JW' Pilkington, who left us on the 27th of October, 2025. Born on the 5th of March, 1960, James, who was also affectionately known as JW, lived a vibrant and fulfilling life.

James is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Pilkington, his brothers Eugene, Dewayne (Ruthann), Timothy (Kristy), Kenneth (Stephanie), his sister Jessica (Mark) Campbell, his children Wesley Pilkington, April (Robby) Bishop, Holly Pilkington, Brady Sanders, and Meghan Byrd. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Trey Hall, Gracie Bishop, Liam Bishop, Dallas Hall, Korbyn Lewis, Uhtred Austin, Raylane Austin, and Lulamae Austin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake Pilkington and Verna Bowles Pilkington, and his sister, Ann Warren. Each of them held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs.

James held an unyielding love for the Smokey Mountains, a locale he often referred to as his favorite place on earth. He looked forward with great anticipation to his visits to Gatlinburg, each trip bringing him immense joy and peace.

The loss of James is deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will be carried in the hearts of his loved ones, everyone whose life he touched, and in the beautiful landscapes of the Smokey Mountains he held so dear.
