James's obituary

James P. Barrett, 47, of East Amherst, NY, passed away on March 12, 2022. 

Jimmy was born in Syracuse, NY, and graduated from Cicero-North Syracuse High School in 1992. He served as a Legal Affairs Paralegal, a Recruiter, and a Career Counselor, for over 25 years in the US Army, before retiring in 2017.  He continued to serve his community, as a school bus driver for over 4 years. He was also a 6-year member of the Swormville Fire Company, serving as a firefighter, a NYS EMT, a Captain, and as Vice President. 

Jimmy received his Associates Degree from Onondaga Community College, his Bachelors from Columbia College, and his Masters from the University of Arkansas Grantham. 

Jimmy was the funniest member of the family, always making jokes and making everyone around him smile. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife, 2 children, 3 grandchildren, his parents George and Cecelia (Desantis), brothers George (Jacqueline), Jon (Amanda), sister Jessica Cranfield (David), and several nieces and nephews. 

Jimmy’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life, on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Clay Fire Department, 4383 Route 31, Clay, from 2-6pm

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Swormville Fire Dept, 6971 Transit Rd, East Amherst, NY 14051 or the Cicero Fire Dept, 8377 Brewerton Road, Cicero, NY 13039
